Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton were known to take to their hammocks to peruse papers (or indulge in a nap), and this oversized two-person model has a 450-lb. capacity that would have comfortably held a reposing William Howard Taft. Made by Pawley’s Island Hammocks, creator of the original rope hammock 125 years ago, the hammock is hand woven from a three-ply weather-resistant polyester rope that is as soft as cotton yet will not mildew, rot, or fade. The white oak staves are treated by hand with the same varnish used to protect boats, and the sturdy hanging hardware is fashioned from galvanized steel to impede rust.
