Known as “Modjeskas,” the unique candy is named after a beautiful Polish actress from the 19th century. In the late 1880s, Helena Modjeska was a beloved Shakespearean actress who had a large following in the United States. As such, theatrical patron and longtime admirer, Anton Busath created the silky caramel biscuits and named them after the beloved actress.
